SECTION ONE

Purpose, Scope, Legal Basis and Definitions

Purpose

ARTICLE 1 – (1) The purpose of this Regulation is to set out the procedures and principles regarding the objectives, fields of activity, administrative bodies, and working principles of the Energy and Sustainable Development Research and Application Center of Kadir Has University.

Scope

ARTICLE 2 – (1) This Regulation covers provisions related to the objectives, fields of activity, administrative bodies, duties of these bodies, and working principles of the Energy and Sustainable Development Research and Application Center of Kadir Has University.

Legal Basis

ARTICLE 3 – (1) This Regulation is prepared based on subparagraph (2) of paragraph (d) of Article 7 and Article 14 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 dated 4/11/1981.

Definitions

ARTICLE 4 – (1) In this Regulation;

  • a) Advisory Board: Refers to the Advisory Board of the Center,
  • b) Center: Refers to the Energy and Sustainable Development Research and Application Center of Kadir Has University,
  • c) Director: Refers to the Director of the Center,
  • d) Rector: Refers to the Rector of Kadir Has University,
  • e) University: Refers to Kadir Has University,
  • f) Executive Board: Refers to the Executive Board of the Center.

SECTION TWO

Objectives and Fields of Activity of the Center

Objective of the Center

ARTICLE 5 – (1) The objective of the Center is to carry out interdisciplinary educational and research activities at local, regional, and global levels on various energy issues concerning Turkey and its surroundings, and to contribute to the implementation of the knowledge, opinions, and analyses resulting from these studies for the benefit of society by sharing them with national and international audiences.

Fields of Activity of the Center

ARTICLE 6 – (1) In order to achieve its objectives, the Center engages in the following activities:

  • a) Supporting and enhancing courses and research related to energy systems in relevant departments of the University.
  • b) Initiating, coordinating, and conducting interdisciplinary research activities using the research potential available in various departments of the University.
  • c) Launching and conducting interdisciplinary postgraduate education at master’s and doctoral levels in coordination with different units of the University.
  • d) Organizing national and international educational programs, short courses, certificate programs, workshops, seminars, conferences, and congresses; developing and managing research and consultancy projects; enhancing collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • e) Monitoring national and international developments and project calls in the field of energy to ensure timely and comprehensive information dissemination.
  • f) Collecting national and international legislation, court decisions, and other written and visual documents in the field of energy; publishing in Turkish and foreign languages; and contributing to such studies.
  • g) Informing and enabling participation of University staff and students in relevant national and international events.
  • h) Establishing relationships and cooperation with national and international institutions and organizations active in relevant areas, including research, application, and education centers, institutes, and similar organizations abroad.
  • i) Preparing a platform for knowledge exchange between industry and the University.
  • j) Promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in the energy sector by organizing various activities and competitions.
  • k) Encouraging intellectual property rights evaluations and patent/license applications following research project outcomes.
  • l) Leading the incubation of entrepreneurial and innovative business ideas developed by individuals inside or outside the University in the field of energy; supporting the commercialization of projects and obtained patents through technology transfer office functions.
  • m) Establishing archives, libraries, cinemateques, videoteks, and other information and application facilities related to its field of work; tracking and acquiring relevant national and international publications.
  • n) Establishing temporary or permanent committees and working groups to conduct research, investigations, and similar studies in the field of energy.
  • o) Providing legal consultancy and expert services within the framework of higher education legislation.
  • p) Engaging in other activities aligned with the Center’s objectives.
